Is the 6th edition is the latest edition?
Is it preferred to prepare for CCNA?

According to www.sybex.com the 6th Edition is the latest

Yes, preparation is probably the preferred method of passing the exam
If you mean, is this book the preferred method, this cannot be answered as everyone has a different opinion. But in general, to pass any IT certification, you need a combination of three things:
Training (books, multimedia or classroom)
Practice exams
Experience

IMNSHO the most important is Experience

I never touched a Cisco device in my life. I bought the Sybex 6th edition and less then a month later I was a CCNA.

Experience is great but nobody wants to hire someone unless they already know something. In that case you're limited to training yourself.
