Default 451 4.4.0 Primary Target error

win 2k3 standard x64 bit server 13 of them, two are DC's. one exch 2007 standard serv, x64 on win 2k3 stand x64 bit server.

I'm having trouble sending e-mails to one particular domain, and I keep getting this error msg in the que.

451 4.4.0 Target IP address respnded with: "421 4.4.2 connection dropped."attemted failover to alternate host, but that did not succeed.Either there are no alternate hosts, or delivery failed to all other alternate hosts.

I can e-mail every other freaken domain in the world, ugh!

It looks to me like they may be blocking connections from your ip address. I would do three things:

1. Look in the Exchange logs for the SMTP session to the remote domain so that you can analyze what's happening (helo, mail from, etc).

2. Telnet to port 25 on the remote system from your Exchange server so that you can see what happens first hand. This might give you more info to go on.

3. Check to see if your ip address is on any blocklists. You can check this from DNSStuff, MXToolbox, or any number of other web sites.

IP address isn't only any blacklist.

I can telnet to port 25

the logs just state the same error msgs

I also ran this cmdlet:

Get-sendconnector | set-SendConnector -ProtocolLogginglevel verbose

but it didn't help any, still can't email certain domains.

When you telnet to port 25 of the remote server are you able to send email to someone at that domain?

what I notice is that both connection attempts are looking for an SPF record.
The dikfference is, in the first log, it finds the SPF record and everything is ok.
In the second log, it doesn't find the SPF record, so it's rejecting you..

I'm assuming that metromhusa.com is you ?
where does the SPF record for trendmicro fit into the equation?

TrendMicro is our spam filter and we set up the SPF record over a year ago. I know my domain works properly. But I can't administer some other companies domain, so how can I resolve this?

I'm pretty sure they have an MX record, been in biz for a long time now.

Funny thing is that we have always exchanged (no pun) e-mails up until this week. Very frustrating especially when my CEO can't e-mail there CEO!
