Default Citrix RU update

Hi,

I was hoping someone could clarify a couple of points for me. I'm planning on updating to Pres 4.5\Xenapp5 to RU6. I will be following Citrix quidlines and best practice.
I'm planning on doing this a couple of servers each day within a week starting with ZDC. Does anyone see a problem with that, will current RU4 coexsist with RU6 untill I upgrade all?

Also, For RU6, there is a requirement to run dscheck /full FTA /reindex, see below form citrix.

"When the Rollup is installed run dscheck /full FTA /reindex, this has to be run on at least one server in the Farm.
*From Fix #205118: The more file type associations are present in the data store, the longer MFCOM queries on applications can take. This is because the search for file type associations for applications can take a long time because no filters are used for the search, resulting in a delay in any queries that involve applications. This fix introduces a filter based on the application unique identifiers (UIDs). Because file type associations are indexed on application UIDs, the search should return faster"

Can I run this when I install the Rollup on the first server (ZDC) or after I complete all servers in the farm? Does it really matter?

Thank you in advance.

Please review the following guidelines:

http://www.citrixthings.com/index.ph...=103&Itemid=32

http://support.citrix.com/article/ctx122756

and you may see the issue in from this KB:

http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX123520

I can recommanded to install a new ZDC and run the required command on it.
If you can, please create a small lab with a real servers.

Hi,

I've already looked at the guidlines and have been through those links before.
My question is, there is a step which i need to take outlined in: http://support.citrix.com/article/ctx122756

There is a requirement to run dscheck /full FTA /reindex, as per below from the above link.

This confuses me a bit, as I'm planning on doing this over a period of a few days, a few presentation servers at a time. When do I run that command 'dscheck /full FTA /reindex'? After I install RU6 on the first Presentation server or once I complete all of them? The citrix step above just says ""When the Rollup is installed run dscheck /full FTA /reindex, this has to be run on at least one server in the Farm".

I've searched everywhere and cannot find anything. Was hoping someone could just tell when to run it after all servers are done or after the first is done. There is no test lab so this would be done in production environment. Thanks.

Hi,

dscheck /full FTA /reindex was set in the past to run after any Citrix rollup. Now, Citrix request to run this command manually after rollup installation (The command may take a lot time to run).

You can see this information in:

http://66.165.176.77/article/CTX123915/?print

"At the end of the installation of each post Hotfix Rollup Pack 5 hotfix, the installer runs a custom action to launch DSCheck.exe /full FTA /reindex /silent. This procedure is responsible for reindexing the file type associations in the data store and is the cause for the delay. This process needs to occur only once per farm but occurs every time a post Hotfix Rollup Pack 5 hotfix is installed on a server in the farm."
